On September 10-11 Uldis Reimanis, Deputy State Secretary, and Anna Bacanova, Attaché in Russia of the Ministry of Transport, together with industry entrepreneurs participated in regional visit of the Ambassador of Latvia to Russia Maris Riekstins.
During a meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Aleksey Pesoshin, Minister of Transport, Lenar Safin, representatives of foreign economy, trade and tourism, Uldis Reimanis informed them about the potential of Latvian transport sector, incl. Tatarstan export - oil and mineral fertilizer transit opportunities, distribution chances in the Baltic and Scandinavian markets, as well as a unified information portal vialatvia.com.
Briefly about most important
*Latvia’s and Tatarstan’s relations need a new impulse, there is a potential for the development of economic relations.
*Minister of Transport Lenar Safin informed about Tatarstan’s fleet renewal and interest of the regional airline to operate flights to Latvia.
*Latvia and Tatarstan agreed to discuss ways to increase air passenger traffic as well as air cargo flows.
During the visit, meetings were held at the Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Economics and Latvian -Tatarstan Business Forum. At the Forum, Uldis Reimanis presented Latvian transport opportunities as well as potential of logistics and distribution.
